April 2021: Toronto Art Show / One Gear at a Time / Inspirations Along the Way

Updated: Apr 8, 2021

Toronto Art Show

Arterial is a new exciting art space in Toronto that has just opened its doors to the public! It is located in a hidden back lane, parallel to Adelaine Street W. In fact, it's name is a synonym for lane way.

From April 2021 until mid-May 2021, Arterial has invited The Soulfood, an art consulting service and events curator, to display the works of 6 artists, myself included. It is an honour to be exhibiting alongside THEO WILLEMSE, ALINE SETTON, KATHLEEN FINLAY, ELMYNA BOUCHARD, and MACIEK BALMAS, painters and sculptors who I very much respect.

I'm hoping to make my way to Toronto to view the actual show before it ends. Here's hoping the Toronto lockdown lifts soon. And if they do, I hope some of you get a chance to see the paintings on display too. Just make sure to call the gallery before hand so they can prepare and arrange for your private viewing.

451 Adelaine Street West / #3 Toronto, Ontario / M5V 1T1 (access is from the rear off Morrison Street) 1-416-882-1618

The online catalogue of the show can be viewed on my homepage.

The link below will get you there.

One Gear at a Time

Regarding the online classes I had mentioned in my previous blog, I will, unfortunately, have to postpone it to a later date. My focus has been dispersed in multiple direction and although I am getting a better grip on my 'time managing' reigns, the course I have in mind is far from being realized. I invite you to practise patience along side of me. One gear at a time.

My first priority right now is to get more time in the studio. Painting is my soul’s balm and I haven’t been getting enough of it, so, my dedication is to that before anything else. And if a course organically materializes and develops from that time in the studio, along side of some artwork, then fantastic! Here’s hoping it will arise before next winter. ;)

Inspirations Along the Way

A few quotes that inspired me this month:

“The object of art is not to make salable pictures. It is to save yourself.” -Sherwood Anderson

“There will always be challenges and problems along the way, but you can choose the problems you want to wrestle with.” -V.S.

“You must have a room, or a certain hour or so a day, where you don’t know what was in the newspapers that morning, you don’t know who your friends are, you don’t know what you owe anybody, you don’t know what anybody owes to you. This is a place where you can simply experience and bring forth what you are and what you might be. This is the place of creative incubation. At first you may find that nothing happens there. But if you have a sacred place and use it, something will eventually happen.” -Joseph Campbell (Note that Campbell says you must have a room or a certain hour. A bliss station can be not just a where, but also a when. Not just a sacred space, but also a sacred time.) -Austin Kleon

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend holiday! Enjoy the Spring weather up ahead!

And keep on keeping connected, creative and compassionate!
